Mini Unveils Retro-Inspired Interior with Streamlined Layout for a Stylish Upgrade
Mini has just released a teaser for its upcoming 2025 Cooper, focusing on the car's redesigned interior. The changes are extensive, with the new model featuring a minimalist retro design. The centerpiece of the interior is a massive circular display that showcases the new infotainment system software. This large screen provides all the vital information, including gear selection, electric range, power meter, navigation, and media player. Temperature control dials are located in the bottom corners, while shortcut icons occupy the bottom middle, leading to larger menus. The traditional instrument cluster has been replaced by a pop-up glass heads-up display, ensuring important information remains visible to the driver.
The lower section of the center screen is occupied by what Mini refers to as the "toggle bar," hosting various switches and knobs for functions like gear selection, power control, and drive modes. In an interesting touch, the steering wheel features more buttons than the center console and displays a new design. Notably, the steering wheel has a strap-like third bottom spoke and a chunkier top section, with a smaller overall diameter compared to the current model.
Embracing minimalism, the rest of the interior follows a simple design. The dashboard has an upswept appearance and incorporates fancy lights and animations displayed through the fabric. Mini has also integrated a horizontal air vent that seamlessly blends with the new dash design. The door materials appear upscale, and the armrest looks comfortable.
Although not fully visible in the teaser, the center console features a pair of USB Type-C charge ports and a wireless phone charger positioned upfront. A set of cupholders can be found behind these, and notably, there's no sign of the BMW iDrive knob.
The teaser video showcases the transition from the original Mini interior to the new one, revealing the designers' inspiration: a digital interpretation of retro vibes with a focus on simplicity. While further details are yet to be unveiled, this initial glimpse of the 2025 Mini Cooper's interior offers a promising start.
